Guide On Choosing The Perfect Outdoor Tiles
Tiling is a perfect option for any outdoor area. Whether it’s by the pool or the patio, the wide range of colour, textures, and sizes will allow you to create the perfect outdoor living space. There are a few things that you need to keep in mind when choosing tiles to suit the demands of an outside area. Follow our quick guide below, to help you choose the perfect outdoor tile.
Take into account your climate
It’s important to ensure that your tile choice will be able to withstand the demands of your local climate. For warmer areas, most tiles will be suitable. If you live in a colder temperature then you need to select a tile that will be able to withstand the changing temperatures.
Water-absorption rate
Even if you don’t plan on tiling near a pool, outdoor tiles still need to have a low water-absorption rate. The lower the rate of absorption the less susceptible your tiles will be to stains and cracks.
Non-slip
The outdoor areas will be susceptible to wet conditions, which will increase the risk of slips and falls. While no tiles are completely slip-proof, choosing unglazed and rough tiles will help minimize the risk. Look for a rating of R10 or above.
Stain-proof
Any outdoor tile (especially unglazed tiles) will need to be finished with a quality sealant. This finishing layer will help prevent staining and make sure your tiles are kept looking their best.
One of our top choices in outdoor tiling is our range of unglazed ceramic tiles. Ceramics tiles are an extremely durable option, which will be able to withstand the outdoor environment while also being stain resistant. Available in a range of colours, styles and sizes, ceramic tiles are an affordable option to complete your outdoor living space.
